September 2022 When you're feeling stuck or uninspired, it's usually because you're either physically tired or lacking motivation. If it's the latter, I have a [[Secret Weapon|secret weapon]] that can help you get into action quickly. Here's the method: Think of the task you need to do, set a countdown timer for 10 minutes, and start immediately. ![[apple-watch-timer-trick.JPG|400]] The timer does two things: First, it creates a sense of urgency and motivation to get started. For example, when I see the sight of decrementing numbers on my Apple Watch, I feel the imaginary surrounding walls closing in, like the scene in Indiana Jones. ![[indiana-jones-door-close.gif]] The only way out is to finish the task with [[99-Claude-Config/worktrees/review-english-skill/02-Areas/Focus|focus]]. Second, it gives you a finish line to work towards, which can be liberating and motivating in itself. Knowing you will be out of [[Pain|pain]] in 10 minutes can be a huge motivator. This method is similar to [[Pomodoro Technique]] and Mel Robbins' [[The 5 Second Rule]]. The time constraints provide you with the focus and energy you need.
